More singles than ever before 1 Month, 1 Week ago
I'm fascinated by modern culture and interpreting the culture we live in. For example, right now we seem to have more single people than in the past 100 years. Last year's census showed that there are less people getting married. Of course, more people in the world are living in defactor relationships and this needs to be taken into account. But in the church, this seems to be a growing phenonmena. In some churches there are more single females than men, in others the coin is flipped. There are plenty of people wanting to tie the knot, but have difficulty finding someone to do it with.

Certainly generation X have pushed marriage to later rather than sooner, whereas our baby boomer parents got married young.

There can be a variety of different reasons as to why people aren't getting married. Men have a perspective on this, and so do women.

What's yours?

Why so many singles? It's hard to say isn't it!

i feel like busyness has a bit to do with it... so many things in our schedules, it's hard to make time for friends, let alone find the time to meet someone, get to know them, and maybe begin a relationship...

Or is that we're simply not meeting enough other singles? sometimes it feels like you're around the same people all the time. i read a book once that encouraged singles to "get their numbers up"... do what you can each day to meet more single people. not like some weird "man-hunt" but more just to broaden the range of single, available people that you have contact with each week.

i think us girls are also walking around with rose coloured glasses on. we've been praying for our partners for so many years that we think it's going to have to be this movie-like moment, with shooting stars, moonlight and a bed of roses! are we expecting too much of the men in our life? are we making too much of that "moment" when we'll just "know"? perhaps it will be like that, but then maybe it will just a little more low key... who knows??

all i know for sure is that it's all about trust. Trust in God's timing for you and remaining open to his moulding and leading, and being open to whatever adventure he may have in store for you.
