Bayside's Bush Fire Relief Effort continued over the weekend with “drop off” points at all service locations. The generosity of Bayside members and the wider community is overwhelming!
Volunteers have been on site at Cheltenham every day (even over the weekend!) sorting and packing donations. Staff from the Leader Newspaper Group were at the Cheltenham Campus on Thursday busily working to help prepare items for the Dowling Family and meet deadlines for goods to Bendigo.
In the face of great tragedy the community is pulling together, making sacrifices of their time and finance to make a difference to those whose lives have changed for ever.
From TODAY onwards we will be accepting the following items ONLY:
Women’s larger size garments – Size 18 and over (nearly new is ok)
Clothing – New only
Non-perishable Food Items
Gift Vouchers (as per previous emails)
School stationary items (folders, exercise books, pens etc)
New Underwear (particularly women’s larger sizes and men’s all sizes)
Kitchen Utensils (prefer new) (not electrical)
All donations for both Bendigo and the Dowling Family can be dropped into the Bayside Centre in Cheltenham Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm.
BENDIGO … THIS WEEK!
A team is heading to Bendigo this Wednesday with the first shipment and they will have the opportunity to see first hand how your support is going to benefit and assist the fire victims within the local community there.
DOWLING FAMILY
The Dowling Family send their love and thanks to everyone for your loving support and care offered them.
We will be liaising with the family this week to get items collected for them. Please uphold the family in your prayers as they navigate this challenging time.
INTERSTATE SUPPORT
Over the last week we have been contacted by a number of interstate churches who are also receiving donations on behalf of the bush fire relief. They have asked Bayside Church to assist them with distribution of their aid. In the coming weeks we will be investigating other localities and groups requiring assistance and advising these churches on where best to direct their support.
SPECIAL OFFERINGS
Special offerings were received at all Bayside Church services on the weekend with a grand total of ???? coming in to support our relief efforts.
If you have friends or family members who would like to make a donation please encourage them to either phone the Bayside Church office on (03) 9585 2455 or click here to donate via the website (select Community Care and in the description please mark as Bushfire Relief). MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
