Matt’s Place in Chelsea opened it’s doors on Tuesday June 7 and has seen a huge response from the local community. The community meals program is now serving an average of 60 – 65 meals each week.
Following on the success of Matt’s Place, Cheltenham, this second venue continues to provide an opportunity for those in the community who are homeless, lonely, or disadvantaged to share a free, hot, home cooked meal and experience warmth, friendship and connection . Already friendships are developing between guests, and guests and volunteers. Special thanks to Matt's Place supporters including St Chad’s Anglican Church, Chelsea Rotary, CMV Staff Fund, The Jack Brockoff Foundation who granted Bayside Community Care with $5000.00 towards start up costs, and The City of Kingston who has supported Matt’s Place this year with a grant of $10,000.00. |
