Transformation Schools programs are run primarily by volunteer trained youth workers and are all provided free of charge to schools. Transformation Schools is funded solely by the generous support of Bayside Church and other charitable organisations.
Currently the programs run in seven schools and positively influences more than 250 students a month. A range of programs are available covering ages from years 6 to 12.
The popular It’s Your Life program specifically addresses boys major issues such as depression, body image, self-esteem and suicide. Whilst the Bring it on! program targets younger high schools students and is loaded with fun, games and prizes. Students make valuable connections, build relationships and develop teamwork.
It’s Your Life Program has had a significant positive impact on engaging students who are otherwise disconnected with school or involved in self-defeating behaviours. The feedback from the school organisers has been very positive and they are often asking when group leaders will be back to run more group programs.
Girlspace, a program for girls, runs alongside the It’s your Life program. It covers issues such as self-esteem, body image, goal setting and relationships. It has run very successfully over a number of years and has been welcomed by both teachers and students as being an excellent program, equipping girls to be positive role models in their school environment.
A VCE lounge runs in a number of schools in the local area, providing a place for VCE students to relax and unwind during a busy period in their school life. Students are given free coffee, food and encouraged to connect with the team and each other in a relaxed, fun environment.
Mentone Grammar, Parkdale Secondary, Cheltenham Secondary, Beaumaris Primary School, Kilvington Grammar, Firbank Grammar and Bayside Christian College have adopted Transformation Schools programs into their curriculum and see the benefits. Programs can also be catered to schools needs.
